Lynn’s Story

My name is Lynn and I am the product of an unplanned pregnancy.  My birth mother was 19 years old when she found herself pregnant, alone and unmarried, no longer having a relationship with my birth father.  She had no job and at that point in her life no direction.  Her family was somewhat supportive; although, I do know that her father did not want her to have me! He told her she would be better off having an abortion. She decided to have an abortion and went as far as to make the appointment, but thankfully changed her mind.

She battled with herself in not knowing what to do.  It’s never an easy decision.  She gave birth to a healthy baby girl….ME!  She still battled, not knowing if she could parent or if she should think about adoption.  She decided choosing adoption would allow me to have a better life that she felt she could provide for me.

I am so thankful that I am here today.  I was given the chance to live my life and my adoptive parents were given the chance to have the daughter they wanted.  Every life deserves the chance to live and no life is ever a mistake.  It’s the choices that we make that are the mistakes--not the life that God creates.  How ironic that is when I hear people talk about the fetus not being alive or not considered a human being…how can that be?  I was very much alive inside her just as much as I am today able to share this with you.

Every life has a purpose.

I know that in thinking about my life as an adoptive child, I always had questions and my adoptive parents graciously gave me the answers that they could.  I have since come to know my birth mother and I have a relationship with her which I am grateful for and blessed to have.

I am fortunate to have two mothers…the one that gave me life and the other that gave that life direction.  Both gave me their Love.

In honor of my birth mother, Lj
